Briefly

A call costs the homeowner nothing. FaucetMend is paid by the contractor it routes to, which is the reason the site keeps naming the manufacturer question — it is what turns two visits into one.

FaucetMend is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. We carry out no work, we sell no fixtures, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call. Nothing here is a statement about the water at any address; only a test of that water can tell you about it.

The telephone call

You give us the ZIP code and what the faucet is doing. We check it against the areas our partner contractors cover and connect you with one who covers yours. If nobody does, we say so on the call.

We do not take details to pass on later and we do not sell them.

Who pays us, and the obvious problem with that

The contractors, when we route them a call. You are never charged anything, whether or not any work goes ahead.

Which gives us a reason to want you to call. So here is what we do about it: the first advice on this site for a slow tap is to unscrew the aerator and rinse it, which solves the complaint outright a great deal of the time and earns us nothing. We would rather you fixed it than paid somebody to unscrew it for you.

What FaucetMend is not

We are not a contractor. We carry out no work, we sell no faucets, no cartridges and no parts, we do not set prices and we supervise nobody. Contractors in our network are independent businesses required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands.

We do not vouch for any individual contractor and no page here says we do.

And we are not a water testing service

We do not test water, we do not interpret laboratory results and we sell nothing that claims to treat water. If that is what you need, your water utility and a certified laboratory are the right places and we are the wrong telephone number.

Know the maker? Say so on the call.Cartridges are specific to a manufacturer, and the name on the handle is frequently the difference between one visit and two. We route you to a contractor covering your area, chosen on the ZIP code you give, free of charge to you. Faucets are simply our subject; the number itself handles any plumbing request.
